TAHIA HALIM

1919 -2003
The Nubian Lover.

Halim graduated from Julian Academy in Paris in 1951. and was assigned to teach at the Technical College for Girls in Zamalek 1959, and then received a state-sabbatical scholarship from 1960-1988.
-member of the Supreme Council of Arts 1980-1981,
She had a strong Egyptian style inspired by ancient Egyptian, Coptic and Islamic art.
-She held 45 exhibitions in Egypt and abroad.

She represented Egypt in exhibitions abroad, including the 1954 São Paulo Biennial and the 4-year Venice Biennale (1956-1958-1970), where her work was nominated for biennial prizes. She has several paintings in international museums, including: the painting “Hanan” in the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the painting “Human” in the people museum in Stockholm, and the painting “Hibiscus” in Poland, in addition to her paintings displayed in the Egyptian museums in Cairo and Alexandria.
