1917-1995
One of the most important artists of the plastic arts movement, he is a creative figure with a great artistic history that took the Egyptian heritage as a fertile material, which he was able to adapt with his unique style to produce a distinctive world that strikes its roots in the sources of successive Egyptian civilizations, Pharaonic, Coptic and Islamic, containing artistic visions filled with an authentic Egyptian sense moving between different fields of art.
It is worth noting that the artist Sayed Abdel Rasoul is the first Egyptian plastic artist to receive the Medal of Science and Arts after the royal regime. He was also the first Egyptian plastic artist to receive the State Encouragement Award in 1958.
His works have a unique space of creative excellence. He is a comprehensive artist who sided with his Egyptian identity and his civilizational and cultural roots, despite his appearance in the fifties and sixties of the last century, which was dominated by the influence of a large number of its creators by the West with calls for modernity and the like. He is passionate about research in art and experimentation, open to the world, but he presented himself as an authentic Egyptian creator who proudly belongs to a source rich in its highly private vocabulary. He played with it artistically and visually, expressive and beautiful images in a decorative guise of elements and plastic construction, employing symbols and their meanings to produce surfaces overflowing with topics related to the Egyptian character and environment and a special state of brilliance.
