An Egyptian artist, born in Alexandria, Farouk Hosny graduated from Fine Arts in Alexandria in 1964. He held the post of Director of El Anfoushy Culture Palace in 1965 & went on to serve as the Director of the Egyptian Culture Centre in Paris, France in 1970-1978 & then as the Director of the Egyptian Academy in Rome, Italy in 1979-1987. He was then appointed as Egyptian Minister of Culture until 2011. During the 1960s & early 70s, Farouk developed his work from an Expressionist approach to a unique minimalist one. He has exhibited his work at numerous exhibitions locally in Egypt as well as globally.
